If you need estimates for the cost of windows, renovations etc, we can point you in the right direction and provide you will the true cost of using local labor. Currently this is approximately 25 leva per day. 12 UPVC windows and a double glazed door in a brown wood effect cost £700 (UK) fitted in July 2007.

Welcome to the new website for the village of Ekzarkh Yosif, Borovo district, near Rousse, Bulgaria. The site has been designed to put the purchasers of houses in the village and English residents in touch with each other. The village currently has four English households who are full time residents and many more who are in the process of renovating their property.

I hope we can use this site to provide each other with information which will assist others who have or are thinking of purchasing here. The site hopes to list residents Skype and email addresses and a message board so all can communicate effectively. Best wishes, Jacqui X

News update

For those that want to move to Bulgaria before their house has been fully renovated, Ken will have four holiday apartments will be ready for rental by June 2008. The facilities will include a swimming pool and games room. These can be rented on a weekly or monthly basis. Prices and availability to follow shortly.

By the summer Ian and Janet will be opening a bar and restaurant in the village, currently their are three bars, but no restaurants, for those of us who do not yet live in the village the restaurant will be a god send. Ian and Janet are also intending to build four studio apartments and an eco friendly campsite for all those who prefer to bring their own accommodation.
